The VAK eFTI pilot was carried out to support the digitalisation of freight transport and information exchange. The pilot examined how information related to the transport of dangerous goods flows through an international transport chain and how it could be exchanged more efficiently in a future eFTI environment.

During the pilot, key stakeholders, information flows, and the systems used throughout the transport chain were identified and analysed. The findings highlighted that information is still transferred manually between systems in several stages of the process, increasing the risk of errors and causing delays. At the same time, significant opportunities for system integration were identified.

The pilot increased understanding of how dangerous goods transport information could be managed and shared more effectively in digital form. The results provide valuable input for both authorities and industry stakeholders preparing for the wider adoption of electronic freight transport information in the coming years.

The VAK pilot demonstrated that close collaboration between all parties involved is essential for developing safer, more efficient, and more seamless digital transport processes.
